February Monthly Breakfast

The Board of Directors of the Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County invites you to its next monthly 2nd Friday Networking Breakfast Meeting being held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 7:30am.

This month's speaker is Dr. Norvell Vandervall (Van) Coots , President and CEO of Holy Cross Health and the President and CEO of the Maryland Region of Trinity Health.

We meet on the second Friday of every month at Lahinch Tavern and Grill in the Cabin John Shopping Center at Tuckerman Lane and Seven Locks Road. Parking is conveniently located outside the restaurant.

Registration is $20 for pre-registered CBN-MC members, $30 at the door and for non-members.

Dr. Norvell Vandervall (Van) Coots

Will present on "Our Amazing System of Care for Wounded, Ill and Injured Service Members."

Dr. Norvell Vandervall (Van) Coots is currently serving as the President and CEO of Holy Cross Health, and the President and CEO of the Maryland Region of Trinity Health.

Recently retired from the Army as a Brigadier General, his final assignment was as Commanding General, Regional Health Command Europe, and as the Command Surgeon for the US Army Europe and 7th Army, with his headquarters located in Sembach, Germany. Previous assignments have included Deputy Commanding General (Support), US Army Medical Command, and as the Assistant Surgeon General (Force Projection) of the Army, 2013-2014. From 2012-2013 he was deployed to combat as the Surgeon General, US Forces Afghanistan and Medical Advisor to the Commander of the International Security and Assistance Force Joint Command (NATO). From 2008- 2011, he served as the final Commander of the Walter Reed Healthcare System and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, DC.

He began his military career in the Medical Service Corps as a Medical Supply Officer and became a Medical Officer upon graduation from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Board Certified in Dermatology, he has a Masters degree in Strategy from the Army War College. He has served around the world, and has commanded at all levels including company, clinic, hospital and medical center. He has received numerous awards and decorations to include the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Legion of Merit. He has been awarded the Legion of Honor from France, and is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit. He has numerous civilian healthcare awards to include the Dehaven Hinkson Award and the Scroll of Merit of the National Medical Association.

Brigadier General Coots (Ret) has been appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great (military division). He has received awards from the Knights of Columbus for his work in caring for Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed and from The Pearl S. Buck Society, for creating a system of health checks for Amerasian orphans in Korea. He has received the Bessarabian Orders Caritas (charity) and Renestere (revival) for his work in creating vocational training programs for more than 3000 orphans in the Republic of Moldova. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternities, and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Leadership Circle on Volunteerism. He is married to Claudia Gomez of Pamplona, Colombia, and has a son Maximilian, and a daughter Catalina.
